About this deal

If you’re wondering how to waterproof shoes, beeswax is one potential option for shoes made out of leather. Just to say they can darken the leather slightly but I have found that to be minimal in my experience. To avoid the cracking between the laces and the toecap - get boots that are one size too big and stuff them with paper, aim your blowtorch at the area between the toecap and the laces and heat the leather until it shrinks. To remove the dimples you have to pass the flame over steadily but don't linger the dimples will recede into the leather but shrinkage follows quickly after. In part using a propane torch, I added a layer of beeswax to make dually sure that my new workboots (already advertised as waterproof) would keep the water out.

Our special formulation combines beeswax with other special ingredients that enhance the benefits of beeswax on leather. For those new to using beeswax, we recommend the following basic approach - Step 1: Pack wet newspaper into the inside of the boot; Step 2: Heat the toe cap with a hot hairdryer or similar (be partcularly careful if using naked flames etc. Ingredients: beeswax, rapeseed oil, sunflower oil, olive oil, hemp seed oil, coconut oil, vitamin E (to extend shelf life and prevent rancidity). Let’s take a look at beeswax for leather care, including beeswax for leather bags, leather gloves and waterproofing boots.

Secondly, feeding and conditioning the leather, making it much softer, with a luxurious soft satin finish.Other than the beeswax, you only need a few materials or tools that you likely already have on hand.

The vaseline should create a water-resistant barrier, keeping your shoes dry in wet conditions, although reapplication may be necessary. As with any project, it is a good idea to try this on a small spot first before you coat the whole shoe. To make your shoes waterproof with creams, opt for a high-quality shoe cream or waterproofing cream designed for your shoe’s material. Heavy-duty outdoor activities demand high-performance treatments, while casual use may require lighter options. This will have the effect of pulling the toecap up - but it also permenantly forms the end of the boot, so when you walk the area does not crack (as there is no need for it to move - it is pre-shrunk).
