About this deal

For the fans of Tifo YouTube channel’s unique artwork based footballing illustrations, this book is a treat, but for the fans of the analysis deep dive on footballing matters that the same Chanel provides on YouTube, this book comes across as a bit shallow. I picked up this book after listening to Jim Miller and the author, Pat Kirwan, on SiriusXM radio all season long and was blown away at their analysis of how the games would play out on Sunday.

Live Football Tickets is a market place with a wide collection of football tickets for sale in the UK. Which made it a bit hard when he doesn't go into explanations of some of the basic stuff - like a screen pass, or a play-action - and sure, those are things that I'm sure a lot of people do know. Any of the popular football blogs, let alone niche ones, will give you a plethora of amazing content compared to this. Football is the most popular sport in the world, and Tifo Football is one of the world's most popular football channels. He also goes through things like what a NFL team's weekly schedule is and how a front office prepares for a draft. Home of Bristol City Football and Bristol Bears, Ashton Gate Stadium has 27,000 capacity in sports mode and 32,000 in concert mode; 22 executive boxes and an array of meeting/function spaces. Football is the most popular sport in the world, and TIFO is one of the world's most popular football channels. Great inside info about the entire draft process, including trade valuations and gamesmanship and Kirwan has great ideas about the future of the sport. But I think I was also expecting for it to bridge some kind of gap which it didn't really do, whereas the podcast actually did a better job of it for my understanding.

It is part of The Athletic, who provide unrivalled football insight and coverage across a range of formats from written to video and audio. Ook in het boek is de lay-out, die zowel leuk (illustraties) als functioneel (grafische voorstellingen) is, een groot pluspunt. A bit torn on this one because for the first two-thirds, I felt like I was learning quite a bit, and for the last third, not as much. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins.I recently read Blood, Sweat and Chalk as well, and that book was better for getting deeper into football strategy. It was fun and easy to read like their YouTube videos are fun and easy to understand, but there's so many topics in there I would've loved a deep dive on like Johan Cruyff ideas or the concept of creating space in football. He was like me, very interested and knowledgeable on American football, but had little playing experience outside the backyard. We've got loads of tickets for huge events during this entire season including FA Cup final tickets, Champions League final tickets, Europa League final tickets and Conference League final tickets amongst others via our booking system.

He also talks about the different personnel line-ups (11, 12, 22, etc), but nowhere is there a chart that explains what each one is, which would've been nice. The variety of topics covered was especially pleasing, and although the book can be read in around an hour or two, it made for a surprisingly edifying experience. The 4 star rating reflects a blend of a 5 star rating for someone who is not very engaged in soccer but would like to be, and a 3 star rating for someone who follows the game. Many chapters are obviously about tactics and the history of the game, but there are also profiles of some influential figures from football's past, not to mention a closing chapter on what climate change means for the future of the game. One thing I can't really dock him for is that the book is already somewhat out of date, even though it's only four years old. Covering the key concepts, tactics and philosophies that are shaping the sport today, How to Watch Football reveals surprising new perspectives on familiar elements of gameplay, while highlighting lesser-known aspects of the industry and its history.
