About this deal

This only festers and grows proportionately as the band gets bigger and no band ever grows out of it. This magical rave time was a bunch of young people kicking out at capitalism, which is what some of every generation of young people do. I found the insight into how The Illuminatus Trilogy and Principia Discordia greatly influenced the band and underpinned their motivation fascinating.

I'm not sure I'm satisfied with the ending (for a variety of spoilery reasons) but it's definitely a rewarding read. I still dearly love many of those KLF tracks, despite the fact that I was not a big clubber myself and found most dance music irritating or incomprehensible.

You only have to make the smart move, find the right key, make the right contact, be discovered for what you are. Certain cynics will point fingers and whinge that the indies of today will be just the majors of tomorrow. We have all heard the old tale about how it was the downtrodden working class background that provided the true grit passion in the artist’s work that won the hearts and minds of the masses. This book is out of my regular wheelhouse and yet it has plenty of facets such that there are enough to overlap and catch my interest.

Of course, your conditioned brain will tell you it’s all a pile of shite and pale into insignificance compared to the Golden Era in Pop, when you were on the cusp of your adolescent years. The formula will be untampered with and the success will be repeated a second, a third and sometimes even a fourth time. During a ten year period bridging the 1980s and 1990s, Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty created pop masterpieces at a prodigious pace, leaving behind a body of work unlike anything created before or since. Pop music would be thrown out of the Showbiz Ball if it could not provide its full quota of rags-to-riches stories. If you do not already have any of the above, or are unable to borrow them, then we are afraid you are going to have to spend some real cash.Although all studios want to attract as much business as possible, they do not want to advertise their presence to local thugs who might fancy breaking in and getting their hands on a few thousand pounds worth of gear. I only have a passing knowledge of music group The KLF, and a side interest in Discordianism in general, so this short book ultimately does a good job combining the two in the best way it possibly could given the metric ton of deliberate misinformation strewn about by all parties involved. The manipulation of this control will become a very important creative form of expression in itself. That said, it can be very helpful to have a partner, someone who you can bounce ideas off and vice versa. For some reason, I keep getting stuck reading these books where white men hitting 50 go on and on about raves in the late '80s and how transformative a time it was and how the 'man' crushed it and some sort of second coming of 1967 was supposed to happen, but instead we all started going to costa coffee.
