His books for Assouline include Bals: Legendary Costume Balls of the Twentieth Century (2011), Swans: Legends of the Jet Society (2013) and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso (2020). Personally, I was aware of the twist to this story going in, and it was what drew me to read the book, as the notion sounded rather different from the average rom-com. Named a best book of 2023 by NPR, Publishers Weekly, The Wall Street Journal, Common Sense Media, Shepherd, the New York Public Library, the Chicago Public Library, Booklist, Kirkus, and Powell’s Books.

Not having read the book yet, I can’t tell if the pupusas are some kind of special dog version or not, but the ones I’m familiar with are delicious.Nick engages with a group of oddballs who have some off-the-grid notions about space-time, and what rules should apply when contact is achieved. Housed in a luxury clamshell case with a metal plaque, this spectacular tome is presented in a red canvas tote bag to preserve its craftsmanship.I laughed and cried a bit during this story and I have never NEVER begged more whilst reading a book for it to have a happy ending. The plot itself, whilst very outlandish, did keep me engaged, and the ending itself was both somewhat unsettling and yet also felt right.

It made me laugh, it brought me close to tears and it grabbed me so hard I'd have finished it in two sittings if I hadn't been so exhausted that I fell asleep the night before last night before I picked it up. This is so not what you expect when you first start reading, it’s a very different, a quite original go with the flow read for ultimate enjoyment. Bee is smart, funny and immensely likeable, Nick is also very witty as they bring out the absolute best in each other. Incredibly engaging and well-written” ( The Wall Street Journal)—and set against the backdrop of some of the most extreme environments on earth, from Mt. and illustrator of Her Right Foot by Dave Eggers, among many others), Dave Eggers’s The Eyes and the Impossible is a lyrical, soulful book full of wit and passion—a timeless story for readers of all ages.
